Well, sunset or sunrise? This time of year they are nearly the same thing…the sun peeks up for a few hours then goes back down. We’ll call this one a sunset, because flying away into the sunset (in a helicopter!) is epic.
Safe travels, merry Christmas and a happy New Years to Catherine, Jori, Moses and Willis!
The sun is gorgeous
Woooowwww!!! Beautiful! Yeah, crazy solstices! It seems like up here you can feel that the world is round..for all the arcs of the sun across the sky over the passage of a year.
Reminds me of this quote: “This grand show is eternal. It is always sunrise somewhere; the dew is never dried all at once; a shower is forever falling; vapor is ever rising. Eternal sunrise, eternal dawn and gloaming, on sea and continents and islands, each in its turn, as the round earth rolls.” ~John Muir
That quote is wonderful. Yes, the winter sun, the summer sun, you really do begin to feel the shape and turning of the earth :).
Maybe in the Winter Solstice it should be called a sunriset. :)
Hahaha–that’s how I describe it to folks back home :)
